Dr. Maggie Rizzo
Dr. Maggie Rizzo is a Chicagoland native who attended Benet Academy High School. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She continued her education at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Following obtaining her Doctor of Dental Medicine, she completed a two-year hospital-intensive residency at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s hospital where she served as Chief Pediatric Resident. While at Lurie, she specialized in the care of medically compromised children and patients with special health care needs. She was a member of several multi-disciplinary teams, such as the hematology/oncology team and the craniofacial team, where she worked with other specialists to provide a patient-centered, comprehensive approach to care. She also provided emergency care for patients with dental trauma.
Dr. Maggie is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has been appointed to the Department of Surgery Division of Dentistry of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago to help train the current pediatric dental residents. She understands that each child has specific and unique needs. Dr. Maggie dedicates her career to treating each child with compassion and is committed to instilling healthy oral habits in children at a young age.
For a year between Dr. Maggie's undergraduate tenure at the University of Michigan and her enrollment at University of Illinois Chicago for Dental School, she worked closely with Dr. Albert as her dental assistant. This experience sparked her passion for the field of pediatric dentistry. Dr. Maggie is thrilled to be providing care alongside the wonderful team at Brush Pediatric Dentistry--where it all began!
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When not in the office, you will find Dr. Maggie exploring the parks and trails with her husband, Tony, and her two incredible kids, Johnny and Caroline. Her family is her greatest source of inspiration, reminding her daily of the importance of family and the values she holds dear.
